Welcome to Week 1 of the SC-900 course. In this week, we’ll start with the foundational concepts of Microsoft cloud security services. You’ll gain an introduction to the Azure cloud platform—its key features, benefits, and the basics of navigating the Azure Cloud Console. We’ll then explore how Microsoft’s security services provide built-in protection and integrate across the ecosystem. Topics include understanding service categories, their role in enterprise defense, and advanced Microsoft security service capabilities for securing modern organizations. By the end of this week, you’ll be confident in identifying Microsoft’s core security services, their use cases, and how they support identity, data, and infrastructure protection.

In Week 2, we’ll build on the foundation by diving into Microsoft’s Zero Trust approach and security fundamentals. You’ll begin with Microsoft Defender XDR and learn how it supports Zero Trust architecture. Next, we’ll cover identity protection concepts like password hash synchronization, encryption practices, and the use of Azure Storage Encryption. Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) will also be introduced, highlighting Microsoft tools that help organizations meet regulatory needs. We’ll close the week with Zero Trust design principles—including core components, defense-in-depth strategies, and shared responsibility models in Microsoft 365. By the end of this week, you’ll have a strong understanding of Zero Trust fundamentals and Microsoft’s approach to modern security governance.
